KNOWING A BIT MORE ABOUT PADEL

THE SCORING
Padel rules are very similar to tennis rules, concretely the scoring is exactly the same. That means the points go up like that: 15, 30, 40 and game. In case of equality to 40 (deuce) the players need two points of difference to win this game. It happens the same in the tie-break, when the score is 6-6. The winner of the match will be the pair who get two sets before.

THE PLAY
All the points start with the service and the order is rotational, that is once every pair. The player who serves stands behind the line of service and he must bounce the ball on the ground before the beat/shoot with his/her racquet under the waist. This throw must be diagonally across the net and bounce in the opponent`s court (it`s allowed only one bounce); if the ball goes directly against the wall or the wire fencing, it would be wrong/fault.

THE COURT

The padel court is a rectangle of 20 m. long and 10 m. wide. It`s divided in the middle by a net of 90 cm. high. All the court is closed by a wall (made of glass or brick) and a fence next to the net. The height of the back wall is 3 m.

THE RACQUET
The racquet is made from light material. Its weight could be considered normal when it´s between 350 g and 380 g. Its surface is lighter and more manageable. The choice of a kind of racquet mostly depends on how the player prefers beating, with more control or with more strength. The racquet cannot be more than 45,5cm long, 26cm wide and 38mm thick. A walk through the French Revolution

Our 4th ESO A students have been learning about the French Revolution last month. It has been an exciting journey through one of the most important events of the modern world. Do you want to know a bit more about it? Then, take a look at this video: The French Revolution -In a Nutshell. It's less than three minutes!

Halloween

Martiricos lived in a spooky atmosphere last week. The library was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Students could do Spanish, English and French activities there.

FPB students organised a Haunted House for their classmates. Aren't they frightening? :-S

We also had our traditional Halloween food contest. These are the original dishes that 2ºB students presented.

This was the nastiest dish

The winners

That was creepy!
They won in the category the yummiest dish

This was the best Halloween decoration

A cute cake

Would you try these muffins? :-D
3º ESO A students participated too.

The winners

Look at this nasty cake! It was the best Halloween decoration.

The yummiest dish

And our 2º ESO A and 2º ESO C students did a great job. Look at the winners!

You can also see some information about Halloween on the English Corner. Don't forget to read the scary stories 2º ESO students wrote in Spanish.

Finally, I invite you to watch the wonderful video that Spanish teacher Juana Rodríguez did with her students. I hope you enjoy it! :-)

See you next year!

Halloween 2016

Here we are again with our usual Halloween treats. This year our 2º ESO PMAR students made these spooky masks for their weekend parties

And we hold our traditional food contest with ESO and even 1º Bachillerato students. As you will probably remember, there were three different categories:

These are some of the delicacies that we could enjoy

Ugh, a clear candidate to the most repulsive dish award

I love this one!

The teeth got dismantled in their way to the class and that made them even more... disgusting

One of our most brilliant brains

The large knife is part of the creepy atmosphere

 Aren't they sweet?

This is probably the most Spanish Halloween dish I've ever seen: Potato omelette with jelly  bones on top

Home made delicious chocolate biscuits

Heads all over the cake...

                       Everyone wanted a rat!

Tiny little brains in blood... barf

Little coconut ghosts

Vampire bat cheese cake... yummy...

Lots of juicy worms squirming in blood and vomit

And here are some of the happy participants and winners
